Benefits at Extra Space Storage

Extra Space Storage® offers competitive wages and an outstanding benefits package to employees who work full-time (35 hours per week). After completing 90-days of employment you will be eligible to participate in a variety of our benefits.

Medical Plan

Our medical plan offers affordable rates as well as the convenience of pre-tax payroll deduction. Participating employees choose from a list of preferred providers within their geographical areas, or choose out-of-network physicians. By utilizing a preferred provider, a covered employee will be charged a $25 co-pay per office visit (deductible waived). The plan generally pays 60% to 80% of most covered expenses after a $500 deductible ($1000 family max) is met. Out-of-network usage includes a separate deductible and additional out-of-pocket expenses may apply. The maximum lifetime benefit is $2,000,000.

Dental Plan

Our dental plan pays for 100% preventative services without a deductible. The plan also covers 80% of basic services and 50% of major services after a $50.00 per person deductible ($150.00 family max) is met. The maximum our plan will pay is $1,000 per person per calendar year. Child orthodontia services cover 50% of eligible expenses up to a $1,000 lifetime maximum. You may use any dentist of your choice.

Vision Plan

Our vision plan offers a $50 benefit for a vision examination and $150 for one pair of eyeglasses (lenses and frames) and/or one pair of contact lenses for each participating member each calendar year.

Prescription Drug Card

Covered participants pay $8 for generic, $35 for formulary and $50 non-formulary prescription drugs. To learn more about formulary and non-formulary prescriptions you may log on to www.expressscripts.com. Express scripts offer a mail order prescription program. Any covered participant can pay the same prescription co-pays listed above and receive up to a 100-day supply.

Cafeteria Plan

By participating in this benefit you can save money by using tax-free dollars to pay for out-of-pocket medical (deductible, co-pays, etc.), over the counter medications and dependent care expenses.

Life Insurance & AD&D

This plan provides life insurance equivalent to one times the employee's annual salary, up to a maximum of $150,000. This benefit is paid by Extra Space Storage. Our plan also allows employees to purchase additional employee life coverage, spousal coverage or dependent coverage, all at affordable group rates.

Short Term Disability

We offer voluntary short term disability coverage, which replaces a percentage of the employee's weekly income, in the event the employee is unable to work due to an approved illness or accident. If the employee becomes disabled, and has completed a two week elimination period, he or she may be eligible to receive 60% of his or her weekly salary to a week maximum of $500. Payment may continue up to 13 weeks on approved leave. The employee pays 100% of the premium at affordable group rates.

Long Term Disability

We offer voluntary long term disability coverage, which replaces a percentage of the employee's income on a monthly basis in the event the employee is unable to work due to an approved illness or accident. If the employee is disabled, and has completed a 90-day elimination period, he or she may be eligible to receive 60% of his or her monthly salary to a monthly maximum of $5,000. Payment may continue up to the age of 65 in some cases. The employee pays 100% of the premium at affordable group rates.

401(k) Savings Plan

All employees of Extra Space Storage who are 21 years of age and who have worked with Extra Space Storage for one year are eligible to participate in our 401(k) plan. Extra Space Storage will match $1 for $1 of the first 3%, then 50 cents of 4% and 5% contributed by the employee. The employee may contribute from 1% up to 60% of their annual earnings. A variety of investments are available.
