Extra Space is currently hiring for an HR Generalist at our National Sales Center (Call Center) in Midvale, UT. In this role, you’ll be responsible for assisting in human resource functions and services of the Human Resources Department to support ESMI. The HR Generalist will apply human resource policies, programs and practices to provide a balanced, strategic program throughout the NSC. You will also recruit and source Inbound Sales Representatives while working closely with leaders at the call center in bringing talent to the team as we continue to grow. You will be responsible for building talent pools, sourcing candidates, reviewing applications, screening candidates, and coordinating the scheduling of interviews with the leadership team. This role will be split with nine months of the year strongly focused on recruiting, and three months of the year on HR initiatives.
Maintains the job requisition, updates the job ad, and manages the candidate flow throughout the recruiting process
Conduct screens, presents talent to the leadership team and schedules interviews
Partners with the leadership team at the call center on staffing goals for upcoming training classes and strives to ensure that time-to-fill metrics are achieved
Leverages multiple recruiting sources in addition to internet sourcing techniques and social media to identify and connect with potential candidates
Responsible for executing search techniques to generate a pool of candidates necessary to staff open positions and create candidate pipelines for future needs
Generate leads and source passive candidates through Indeed, etc.
Maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on all candidates, searches, and other recruiting activities
Participate as a team member in support of NSC Management’s efforts
Oversee and implement disciplinary practices, termination procedures, complaint resolution, investigations of employment practices, worker’s compensation and unemployment administration and arbitration procedures. Utilize in-depth knowledge of company policies, past practices and employment law. Obtain approval of the executive management before implementation of termination procedures
Manage the development and implementation of equal employment opportunity/affirmative action programs
Assist with HR Orientation for NSC new hires
Assists in onboarding check ins with new hires at the 30, 60, and 120 day mark
Process changes in Workday
Assist with remote employee processes (sending policies, return labels, tracking of equipment)
Respond to employee questions, or direct them to the appropriate departments
Communicate between leave coordinator and team leads to ensure employees return from leave through the correct process
Update NSC forms and policies as needed
Strong language and communication skills
PHR / SPHR certification preferred
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two plus years of Human Resource experience preferred
1-2 years of customer service, recruiting and/or sourcing experience in a business or professional environment is preferred
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
