The Partnership Marketing Manager is responsible for implementing partnership marketing opportunities for large and complex partnerships as well as growing other adjacent market products and services. The role requires an experienced marketing professional who can identify cross-marketing opportunities and manage the various deliverables needed to bring them to fruition. This role is responsible for aligning marketing, brand, customer acquisition, engineering, operations, and product stakeholders to deliver solutions that complement the core storage business at Extra Space Storage. 

The ideal candidate for this position has a unique mix of marketing experience, relationship building magic, just enough technical acumen to be dangerous, and an insatiable appetite for data driven decisions. The ability to understand the business holistically, drive stakeholder consensus, and sell your ideas for growth and innovation across the organization, with passion, are all critical skills. 

Self-Storage is a unique industry and to be successful, the Partnership Marketing Manager needs to be dedicated to becoming a subject matter expert as quickly as possible 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Managing a portfolio of high-value partnerships with external companies, who enhance the customer experience and add business value 

  • Developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with key internal stakeholders 

  • Supporting the strategic development of the Partnerships Program via various Marketing initiatives 

  • Developing an understanding of key business drivers and challenges, proactively offering insights and solutions to meet those needs, promoting innovation and best practices 

  • Retaining and maximizing revenue opportunities via Marketing channels with key Partners 

  • Serving as a partner and customer experience advocate by providing feedback to the Marketing team for improving the platform and better solve our partner’s challenges 

  • Analyzing, refining, and documenting requirements for deliverables, workflow, logical processes, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, inputs and outputs 

  • Acting as a liaison between business process owners/stakeholders and the marketing/web team. 

  • Working closely with Data Science to identify key metrics for measuring success across Partner marketing initiatives, reporting on KPI’s to help measure success 

Job Specifications: 

  • Empathy and a unique ability to understand customer/partner/business needs and explain complex issues in relatable terms and adapt your tone according to the stakeholder

  • Executive presence - track record of networking and influencing an organization at multiple (senior) stakeholder levels 

  • Basic familiarity with tools like Salesforce, JIRA, Microsoft Suite and an interest in learning other internal tools to work efficiently 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Working to build trusting relationships with internal and external partners.  

  • Passion for Project Management - the ability to prioritize, multitask, and perform effectively under pressure 

  • A results-driven attitude, a bias for learning and sharing, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth, rapidly changing environment 

  • Strategic thinking, all while creating realistic plans/expectations for execution of the strategy 

  • Problem solver, the ability to jump in and solve problems 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required 

  • 5 years' experience in the related area preferred 

  • Project and/or customer management experience
