Job Summary

We're looking for a Senior Payroll Coordinator who thrives on solving complex problems, diving into large datasets, and keeping multi‑state payroll running with precision. If you’re energized by accuracy, love uncovering what others miss, and enjoy being a go‑to resource for teammates, this role gives you the platform to shine.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Payroll Coordinator, you’ll be a key player in delivering timely, audit‑ready payroll for a diverse, multi‑state workforce. You’ll bring both technical expertise and curiosity — spotting irregularities before they impact employees, building smarter audits, and driving continuous improvements across the payroll function.

You will:

  • Run full‑cycle, multi‑state payrolls (weekly/bi‑weekly) with exceptional accuracy and ownership.

  • Design and execute advanced audits, including tax validations, variance analysis, timekeeping integrity checks, retro/true‑up reviews, and system reconciliations.

  • Analyze complex datasets across multi‑sheet reports, payroll previews, and exception files — identifying issues before they escalate.

  • Apply federal, state, and local payroll regulations, researching and resolving discrepancies with internal teams and external partners.

  • Support quarter‑ and year‑end activities, such as W‑2 reviews, state balancing, reconciliations, and documentation updates.

  • Act as an escalation partner for Payroll Coordinators, offering guidance, clarity, and technical expertise.

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with HR, Benefits, Finance, and third‑party vendors to resolve issues and improve consistency.

  • Lead or support special payroll projects, driving better processes and operational efficiency.

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of multi‑state payroll experience

  • CPP certification preferred, but not required

  • Strong knowledge of multi‑state taxation and payroll fundamentals

  • Advanced ability to work in Excel (XLOOKUPs, pivot tables, multi‑sheet analysis)

  • Comfort working with large volumes of data

  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and time‑management skills

  • Clear, collaborative communication — able to translate complex payroll topics for non‑experts

  • A proactive mindset with an eye for spotting issues and improving processes

Why This Role Matters

You’re not just pushing buttons — you’re safeguarding trust. Accurate payroll is one of the most meaningful ways employees experience their company, and your expertise ensures that experience is positive, consistent, and dependable.

Competencies
