Job Summary
The Extra Space Storage Learning and Development Team is seeking an Instructional Design Intern. As an Instructional Design Intern, you’ll gain experience in the instructional design process for training and development materials and other e-products. This position assists in developing learning content that is created, maintained, and delivered via various means such as online learning and social media.
Internship Length: 3 months, with potential to extend
Part Time: 20-30 hours a week (flexible on schedule, but must be within a Mon - Fri, 9am - 4pm timeframe)
Compensation: $18 - $20/hr
Location: In Office (2795 E Cottonwood Pkwy, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121)
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate with Instructional Design Developers to design engaging, effective courses and training to be delivered online via the Learning Management System (LMS) and other platforms.
Ensure instructional items are visually appealing, professional, free from errors, within strategic design, and delivered on time.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Specifications
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Interest in learning the most effective delivery method for training materials.
Creativity to make eLearning modules understandable, interactive, and engaging.
Ability to learn graphic design methods, techniques, software, and equipment.
Ability to learn how to use eLearning course authoring tools.
Education and Experience
Junior or Senior standing in college.
Previous experience or coursework in one or more of the following areas: eLearning instructional design, graphic design, multimedia production, or digital marketing.
Experience with Articulate or similar eLearning authoring tools.
Experience as a Learning Management System administrator a plus.
Experience with a company knowledge base a plus.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Performs sedentary work in an office environment with limited lifting (less than 10 pounds) or walking required. Close visual acuity required to perform work at computer terminal. No exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires repetitive typing motion, talking, hearing, grasping, and feeling.
